But now, with Win98, the BCD 24XD CDROMs cause the computer to hang on restart (black screen prior to logo).

WP Suite 8 install hangs
The other server has made it through install twice, but cannot load after it restarts. I had an integrated lan and video, so i cannot change that configuration. I am getting tired of re-installing everytime. Is there a way to restart the GUI and restart the installation and try to make it finish.

Could you please rename the file c:\windows\wmsetup.log, restart the install, and then post the contents of your wmsetup.log? I was expecting smooth sailing but when I rebooted and started the install it hangs up at the beginning right after I click next on the screen that says check before continuing setup.

Win XP stops during install
Help! I'm trying to install Win98 (full version, freshly formatted, clean FAT32 Hard Disk). Unfortunately the setup program hangs at the "Finalizing settings for your PnP devices" (after the detection of PnP devices reboot). The "Time remaining" stays at 12mins and the PC is unresponsive (except to a hard reboot).

I've got two Win 2k install CDs, one which boots and one which doesn't so I'll try the latter just in case that's causing the problem. When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again restart the pc booting the CD-Rom

Yesterday, when formatting the HD through the maxtor utility, the system went off and haven't been able to restart it... I'll try again today and let know know. I would verify with Asus that you have the correct BIOS settings for PATA and SATA. Some of these settings are not intuitive. I'll post the asus newsgroup
